QuArtz decided in 2013 to set itself a challenge that if it went well would be displayed at the Vernon Silver Star Guild Quilt Show in the fall. The size of the project was derived from the year 2013, thus the project pieces had to be 20 inches by 13 inches. One of the Pantone colours that year was emerald and a piece of emerald fabric was divided between the group so that each person could incorporate a piece of emerald fabric into the project. It was felt that the size and colour would give a cohesive look to the final display. Finally, after a brainstorming session, the word exotic was added to the mix. Each of us have our own idea of what is exotic and this is reflected in the diversity of pieces produced.
